WHAT IS TIMBER RESIN REPAIR?
When it comes to renovating or restoring buildings that have suffered structural damage, or upgrading a structure to cope with a heavier load, it is vital to have an effective way to manage timber repairs. Timber, when not maintained properly can become fragile. If it isn’t appropriately treated it my become warped, infected or break. Timber resin is used in cases where the timber doesn’t necessarily need to be replaced but can be reinforced.
Advantages of timber resin repair
You can also rest assured that epoxy resin will never shrink, and it is extremely strong, bonding well with the existing timber. From our point of view, the best thing about using epoxy resin to repair timber is the fact that it enables us to save or recycle all sorts of wood structures in a building, repairing them rather than replacing. This is important to us, especially when we are engaged in a sympathetic renovation project.
TIMBER REPAIR PROCESS
Our team Survey Your Property
Our timber repair team are highly trained and experienced in determining which resin repair method will be appropriate for each job in hand. We first survey your property to assess the repairs required and then apply the appropriate techniques.
Solid Resin Repairs
Solid resin repairs, for example, are performed when the end or centre section of a piece of timber is damaged or needs strengthening. A shutter box is created and epoxy resin poured into it over steel rods. Once it has set hard the shutter box is removed. Other methods include making a Timber-Resin Splice to repair in-situ timber beams or trusses leaving an almost invisible joint.
The crack repair involves injecting resin into the splits in the timber, while joinery and cosmetic timber repairs are easily effected with resin. If your property requires any sort of structural timber repairs, give us a call and we will dispatch our skilled team to assess the problem.
Timber Repairs FAQs
- How much does timber repair cost?
The cost of timber repairs is dependent on the type and amount of repairs required, and whether the propping is required and the timbers are of a structural element. Please send us your requirements so we can provide you with a costing.
- What is the timber repair process?
This process consists of removing the damaged or rotten timber, building a form around it and filling the form with timber resin. Once the timber resin has dried, extra support bars are cut into the timber. They are then covered with resin and left to dry which completes the process.
