  • Rapid-Cure Deck Repairs: We utilise specialist fast-setting mortars and resins that achieve full structural strength in as little as two hours. This allows us to cut out, repair and reinstate a bridge deck within a single overnight shift, ensuring the road reopens for the morning rush hour without penalties.
  • Composite Impact Solutions: When bridges are struck by over-height vehicles, demolition is often the default fear. We have pioneered the use of high-modulus Carbon Fibre (CFRP) laminates to restore lost tensile strength to damaged beams. This solution is non-intrusive, adds negligible weight and can often be applied from mobile access platforms, avoiding long-term road closures.

The Chloride Threat The greatest environmental jeopardy for highway structures is hidden. Years of winter de-icing have saturated thousands of bridges with chloride ions, triggering aggressive reinforcement corrosion. If left unchecked, this leads to structural deficiency and, ultimately, the need for carbon-intensive demolition.

The Low-Carbon Life Extension

A full bridge replacement is a carbon disaster, generating massive demolition waste and requiring the casting of hundreds of tonnes of new concrete. We offer a sustainable, “repair first” alternative that drastically reduces embodied carbon, aligning with the sustainability guidelines set by the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).

Cathodic Protection (CP)

By installing a sacrificial anode system or an Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) system, we can electrically halt the corrosion process. This saves the existing concrete and steel, extending the structure’s life by 25+ years for a fraction of the embodied carbon of replacement.

Hydro-Demolition

We use precision high-pressure water jetting to remove only the defective concrete, leaving the healthy structure and rebar intact. This minimises waste generation and eliminates the micro-cracking associated with mechanical jackhammering.

  • Bearing Replacement: Design and installation of temporary propping and hydraulic jacking systems to unload bridge decks, allowing for the replacement of seized or failed bearings.
  • Expansion Joint Remediation: Repair and replacement of buried and mechanical joints to prevent salt water leaking onto the substructure—a primary cause of pier corrosion.
