The Intervention
The Intervention Our concrete scanning and remediation experts were mobilised to conduct a comprehensive inspection and determine the optimal repair methodology. To permanently resolve the structural failings, we deployed advanced composite strengthening techniques:
- Resin Injection: To address the active cracks in the tank floor, we used a specialist crack injection technique. A specially formulated waterproof resin was injected deep into the concrete to fill all voids, creating a permanent seal and restoring the base structural integrity.
- Advanced Carbon Fibre Stitching: For the compromised tank walls, we executed precise crack stitching using state-of-the-art ReInforcerX Composite Reinforcement Grid Products alongside high-strength epoxy resin.
- Specialist Composites: The structural strengthening system incorporated Segmental Kevlar, Double T Anchors and Carbon Staples. These advanced carbon fibre elements – renowned for their exceptional strength-to-weight ratio – were strategically installed across the fault lines to bind the cracks and prevent any further dynamic movement.
The Result
By combining deep resin crack injection with advanced ReInforcerX carbon fibre stitching, our team delivered a durable, watertight and highly reliable structural repair. The intervention successfully restored the tank’s full functionality, eradicated the contamination risk and ensured the continued safe supply of water for the region.
