The Problem:
This client wanted to add a second floor to their originally one-floor plan bungalow. As an old bungalow, however, the original foundations were not of adequate strength and depth to be able to safely accommodate the extra load from the client’s desired additional floor.

The Solution:
Our sister company, Structural Engineering Services, worked on the underpinning structural calculations – as shown in blueprint below. Underpinning is the process of strengthening the existing foundations of a build and was conducted for this project given that as it stood, our client’s property was not strong enough to hold an additional floor.
