A Survey On How COVID-19 Has Impacted Our Home Environments
HOW COVID-19 HAS IMPACTED OUR HOME ENVIROMENTS
SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC, 72% OF RESPONDENTS ARE MORE CONCERNED OVER THE CONDITIONS OF THEIR HOUSEHOLDS.
As a means to gauge the effect lockdown regulations have had on our homes, and for many of us our new work environment, Structural Repairs has conducted a survey investigating whether residents in the UK have experienced an increase in concern regarding the conditions of their household. The survey consisted of 600 interviewees belonging to a comparable demographic.
It was found that an astonishing 72% of respondents have experienced an increase in concern over the state of their home environments given the vast amount of time we have been asked to stay at home as a means to keep lives safe and the virus at bay.
76% OF RESPONDING UK RESIDENTS HAVE CONDUCTED MORE REPAIRS ON THEIR HOMES THAN USUAL.
In line with these statistics, a further 76% of UK residents reported to have conducted more repairs on their home than usual. Despite the well-known financial and economical strains the pandemic has brought along as a consequence, individuals are nonetheless conducting both minor and major repairs on their households. In fact, survey results illustrate that to some, costs have amounted to over £3,000 being spent on certain repairs.
84% OF PEOPLE HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED PREVIOUSLY UNIDENTIFIED DEFECTS IN THEIR HOMES.
Out of the 600 individuals surveyed, 501 reported to have detected between 1 to 10 not previously identified defects in their household to be repaired since the beginning of the pandemic. In all, this consists of an 84% of respondents who have recently become increasingly more aware of matters in their home which need alterations, repairs or better tending to.
COVID-19 has imposed considerable lifestyle changes upon both our individual and community behaviours as we take the necessary precautions in order to keep safe worldwide. Among these changes are the number of repairs and alternations being made to our homes and places of residence. While we may not be happy about all of these pandemic related changes, our homes are definitely reaping some considerable benefits as a result of this pesky virus.
In fact, Ana Delgado from Structural Repairs notes that “business has been better than ever for us since the beginning of the Pandemic” and that “UK residences’ homes are being better taken care of by their owners than previously”.
